The Concept

The idea was to shine a light on a Volkswagen giveaway that stands out from the rest.

What if we did something completely silly?

Because most other dealerships are:

  • Take themselves too seriously
  • Don't have the talent to produce anything
  • Are too scared to take a swing

By leaning into silliness we wanted to stand out among a sea of sameness.

Creative Direction

The tone needed to feel fun, a bit silly and slight clever all at the same time.

We leaned into:

  • Showing the vehicles
  • Explaining the prize
  • Moving quickly
  • And having fun

The result is a video that feels authentic, slightly chaotic and genuinely funny.

Production Approach

To keep it feeling fresh, the production was intentionally simple.

  • Minimal crew presence
  • Keeping the camera almost still with the subject darting across
  • Natural lighting where possible
  • Basing it in the showroom and at the dealership
  • Clear script delivered slightly chaotically

The humour comes from the silliness and general sense of fun being had.

The Outcome

The finished piece does more than get a laugh. It resulted in over 10,000 views and used as an ad for duration of the campaign which saw a spike in sales.

It positions Tristram Volkswagen as:

  • Fun and real
  • Different from the others
  • Confident enough to not take themselves too seriously

It’s memorable. It’s shareable. And most importantly, it draws attention to a limited time offer without being too heavy handed.
